We Have all the Time in the World

One of the most expert of all composers of music for the cinema, John Barry has won no fewer than five Oscars - none of them, however, for a James Bond score, in spite of his contributions to twelve films in that long-running series. His own favourite item of Bond music, apparently, is the song “We Have all the Time in the World” recorded by Louis Armstrong shortly before his death in 1971 for the sound track of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. While it is not every Bond fan’s favourite film, OHMSS does feature a genuine love affair between George Lazenby’s not very exciting 007 and Dian Rigg’s brilliantly played Tracy. Barry’s soulful ballad suits their relationship very well.
