Op. 64 No. 2
by Frédéric Chopin (1810–1849)
The three Waltzes Op 64 were completed two years before the composer’s death and were the last such works published in his lifetime. In contrast to the first of them, the so-called “Minute Waltz,” the Waltz in C sharp minor is a thoughtful, almost melancholy inspiration, the true nature of which is belied neither by the plaintively syncopated middle section in D flat major nor even by the comparatively frivolous connecting material that reappears as a brilliant appendage at the end.
