Why do the wrong people travel? (Sail Away, 1961)
by Noël Coward (1899–1973)
“Why do all the wrong people travel?” asked Noel Coward in Sail Away in 1961. The answer, surely, is to prove that - at least as far as Zanzibar, the Taj Mahal, the Grand Canal and the sunny French Riviera, the Isles of Greece, the Costa Brava, Pompeii and St Peter’s Dome are concerned - it really is better to travel hopefully than to arrive.
