Reger Edens was for many years associated with the MGM film studios, first as a musical supervisor and later as an associate producer, which gave him the opportunity to work with some of the most prominent performers of the day, not least Judy Garland. She was the star of    the 1944 MGM film Meet me in St Louis, set in St Louis at the time of the World Fair in 1904, the music of which was written by Edens in collaboration with Conrad Salinger and exemplified at its best by the Garland hit song “Meet me in St Louis”.
