Rêve d'amour
by Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924)
Fauré’s Rêve d’amour and Le Papillon et la fleur (also from Chants du Crépuscule) are among his earliest Hugo settings. Of the two, although it was written a year earlier, when he was no more than sixteen, Le Papillon et la fleur is the more entertaining in its waltz-time tunefulness and, in its delicately flighty piano part, the more promising.
