2 Songs from Chansons du Monsieur Bleu (1932)
by Manuel Rosenthal (1904–2003)
Fido, Fido
Le vieux chameau du zoo
The title of Manuel Rosenthal’s collection of 12 Chansons du Monsieur Bleu derives from the composer’s insistence on wearing a conspicuously royal blue suit and the consequent acquisition of the “Mr Blue” nickname from Boubic, the young son of his librettist Nino. Fido, Fido and Le vieux chameau du zoo feature more of Boubic’s aperçus as developed by his father and entertainingly caricatured by the composer in the blue suit.
