Alexander Zemlinksy was not a prominent participant in ISCM activities. He was to have been on the jury for the 1923 Festival in Salzburg but illness prevented him from joining in the deliberations - although he did recover in time to get to the Festival itself. His most memorable contribution seems to have been his conducting of a triumphant performance of Schoenberg's Erwartung (with Maria Gutheil-Schröder) which was presented by the Deutsches Landestheater in association with the ISCM Festival in Prague in 1925. After that, it was probably not too difficult for Alban Berg, as a jury member in 1928, to get Zemlinsky's String Quartet No.3 accepted for the ISCM Chamber Music Festival in Siena.
